New Life Church Milton Keynes West
....................................................................................................................................................
We started planting a church in September 2005, with around 25
adults meeting fortnightly during the week. In February 2006 we began meeting
for regular Sunday celebrations at Oxley Park Primary school. This was a
significant move that has placed us at the centre of new housing
development for the next few years. We run regular Alpha courses, for
people to explore the Christian Faith, and midweeks groups to encourage
growing faith. We have an increasing gathering of the young and not so young. Together we are commited to enjoying the grace of God and demonstrating His
love.
A bit of history
.....................................................................................................................................................
In 1979 a small group of Christians began to meet together in Newport
Pagnell. The group soon grew in number and in 1982 bought a larger
building in New Bradwell.
In 1982, Paul Woodward joined the leadership team. He was followed in
1986 by Tony Villiers, who became senior leader three years later.
In 1989 we joined a family of churches known as New Frontiers
International (now Newfrontiers). In 1994-5 Richard Wightman and Bill
Williams were added to the leadership team. Paul Woodward moved to
Bedford where he is now the senior leader of Brickhill Baptist church.
With membership still growing, and the building aging, we started
saving towards an extension and renovation in 1992. Five years later,
the single-storey middle section was demolished and replaced with a
two-storey facility, and the main hall was refurbished.
Over the years a number of people had felt that God wanted us to plant
churches in the south and the west of Milton Keynes. Rapid city growth,
first in the south and then the west, helped to confirm the need. We
therefore established New Life Church MK South in September 2003. Tony
Villiers has led this church since its foundation. Richard Wightman
took over the senior leadership of New Life Church MK North.
